Changing ride conditions are a nightmare. After all, many of us stock our closets with a kit for nearly every climate, and we’re so practiced at deciphering radar that meteorology could be our second calling. But there are times when you simply can’t plan for what you’ll face out on the roads. That’s why a packable vest is an essential part of anyone’s wardrobe — you can take it along, just in case. The wind vest is one of the most used pieces in my cycling wardrobe. This vest is perfect. I’m a strength trainer by primary discipline so the euro sizing of most vests doesn’t work for me. I have broad shoulders and wide lats (especially as they spread out when in the drops). The red accents in the underarm and wrapping around to the back a bit are actually a different material that provides some stretch, allowing your back to naturally spread without the vest pulling back against you. Also, the 2 back pockets are sized to actually carry a water bottle in each one, for longer days in the saddle.

    Fit:
I’m 5’10” 205lbs and the XL fits perfectly over a baselayer + long sleeve thermal jersey. Not skin tight but no extra material to flap either. Over a baselayer and short sleeve jersey with arm warmers, the fit is every so slightly looser but still not enough to flap on fast descents. I bought one for my dad who is 6’3” 225 and the XXL fits him just as perfectly.

Often a ride starts out cold in the morning and warm later. This vest is very light weight. It keeps the wind off my torso when it is cold and it easily packs into a pocket when it warms up. I ordered a small and it fits me perfect with a 35/36 inch chest. It is very versatile. I use it quite a bit. It looks good as well.
