I was wavering and researching for hours due to some of the reviews on here but I gotta tell you I’m glad I went with my gut.

I am 5 feet tall and this absolutely does not obstruct my view or affect my knees on my beach cruiser.

It didnt bother my 5 foot 9 husband either.

I am so excited to take my daughter with me on my daily rides now.

Combine childcare with exercise. Result!, February 20, 2016

    Mr. B. J. Corrie (Oakland, CA) –

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
I am an avid mountain biker and wanted to be able to see whether I could achieve the nirvana of combining childcare with exercise. I have a hard-tail bike (no rear suspension) and for a while considered a rear-mounted child seat as an excuse to get a full-suspension bike – you’d have to frankly with a rear seat – children bounce, but there’s a limit.

The WeeRide seemed like a great compromise. I’d get to keep my hard-tail and my 18 month old daughter would be able to ride in front of me where she could see the trail. Since I bought it, we’ve been on about 5 rides ranging from a gentle cruise around a lake to hooning at full speed down Bolinas Ridge. My daughter and I both love it and I’m sure we’ll continue to get good use out of it.

Let me go through the plusses and minuses. Someone here mentioned the heavy metal bar. Yes, it’s heavy. But it’s also sturdy – it needs to be able to resist the twisting forces of 20-30lbs of toddler. Frankly once you have that much extra weight on the bike, a 5lb bar is nothing.

If you plan to go off-road, you will need very good front shocks – the seat is far enough forward that vibrations from the rear will be barely felt, but vibrations from the front will be significant. You will also need to stiffen up the shocks to cope with the weight. I increased my Fox forks from 60 – 80psi. At that pressure, it rides just as well with the extra weight over the rough stuff. There’s very little padding in the seat, so they’ll really need the damping.

In terms of positioning, it is adjustable forwards and backwards, but with my 6’2 frame and my 18 month old, I have to have it adjusted fully forward. In that position, the foot rests foul the suspension struts so I had to raise them up a good few notches. The riding position though is one of the best and worst things about this seat.
On the plus side we get to chat and sing to each other the whole time – she loves to point everything out and knowing that she’s heard and acknowledged makes it a wonderful shared experience.
On the down side, I have to ride like a chicken. The biggest compromise of having anything that large right in front of you is that there’s nowhere for your knees to go. It’s not a design flaw with this seat – it’s simply the nature of the arrangement. I’m starting to get used to it – and I have climbed some pretty steep inclines – but it’s not ideal.

The little lecturn on the front of the seat may look a bit silly, but it’s just perfect. It makes them feel safe because they can lean on it or hold it like a steering wheel and if they fall asleep in the middle of a ride (which she has done), they can literally just slump forward onto it.

All in all, I love this seat. It absolutely meets my requirements and is a great price. It looks small and I wonder how long it will be before she doesn’t fit, but for now, I couldn’t be happier.

This review is from: WeeRide Kangaroo Child Bike Seat (Sports)
We really love this bike seat for our daughter who is 17 months old. I gave it 4 stars because I wish there were a way to recline the child’s seat back so they don’t have to sit up so straight. I find my daughter resting her head on the front pad because she just wants to relax a bit. Also, the foot rests could be a lot longer. We have them set at the lowest setting and my daughters knees are already at a 90 degree angle so I’m not sure how much longer she will be comfortable in it. Overall, we really enjoy our bike rides every evening with this bike seat and I prefer having her in front of me so this seat works great.
