Giro Reverb Urban Cycling Helmet (Black/Red Retro, Large)
@ Classic cycling style for today’s urban rider. The Reverb’s compact, classic lines are a perfect match to the clean new style that is driving urban cycling. The light-yet-tough In-Mold shell wraps around to the inside of the helmet to resist dents and dings from life on the streets, and a self-adjusting fit system eliminates the need to dial-in the fit when wearing a cycling or winter caps. The finishing touch is a simple, removable cycling cap-style visor that adds a touch of style without compromising cooling ventilation in changing weather.

  • Removable cap style visor
  • In-Mold polycarbonate shell with EPS liner
  • 9 vents
  • AutoLoc Fit System
  • SuperFit Engineering

Fits Well, Looks Sharp, Lightweight, Comfortable, June 5, 2012

This review is from: Giro Reverb Bike Helmet (Sports)
I write this from the perspective of someone who has not crashed or otherwise tested the safety qualities of this product. Let’s hope I never do. But from my experience wearing it, it’s a very comfortable, well-fitting helmet that looks sharp.

Fit: The plastic cage inside the helmet is adjustable in three positions near the front of the helmet. Elastic holds the assembly snug around the back of the head, near the neck. I find the elastic is easier to work with and more comfortable than the knob that clicks. It stays in position even if I whip my head around, look down or sit up suddenly. And it fits with the bulky temple pieces on my prescription sunglasses.

Comfort: Very lightweight compared to other helmets with fuller coverage and less ventilation, like this one. The removable visor is a nice touch. An alternate piece of cushioning is provided to replace the visor, and it goes on in a flash with velcro. Easy. The clasp on the chin strap is one of the easiest to open and close with one hand. There aren’t adjustments for the straps around the ear, but they fit, so I was not concerned. Those with unusually shaped ears might not agree.

Style: I have a large head, and most ladies’ models do not fit. Men’s helmets are, well, manly-looking. I bought the cyan/white retro, which looks feminine enough for my taste and suits the bike. I ride a retro-styled comfort cruiser, and the usual ventilated street-racing helmet style just didn’t look right with that relaxed style of bike. It doesn’t make a statement like the nutcase helmets, but I actually prefer that it just do its job with a minimum of fuss.

I would buy it again and recommend it to others.
