Giro Prolight SLX II Shoes Gloss White/White, 42.0 - Men's
@ It wasn’t so long ago that Giro made helmets — and just helmets. In the past few years, though, Giro shoes have become a mainstay at just about every race, from Grand Tours to outlaw CX races. The Prolight SLX II Shoes you see here lean toward that Grand Tour category. In addition to being incredibly light (just 410g per pair), they’re also designed with the needs of the big-race rider in mind. Rather than adorn these shoes with the latest micro-adjusting buckle or cable retention system, Giro opted for the hook-and-loop strap. Why? Because crashes can break buckles, and if you need to chase back to the peloton, it’s going to be a lot harder with a loose shoe. Underneath the microfiber uppers is Giro’s EC90 SLX ACC sole. In addition to being phenomenally stiff, it also boasts a low, 6. 5mm stack height, which ultimately means less material between the shoe and the pedal to rob you of watts. Included in this package, as well, is Giro’s SuperNatural Fit Kit, which likely needs no introd

While these were on the high side price wise, if you can foot the bill 😉 I would recommend trying these out. I also ride in SIDI, and those are good, but these are so light, stiff, and are really much more comfortable. I like the “Supernatural Fit System” which allows you to choose the amount of arch support you require. Also they have a cool feature, an airport on the bottom near the toes to enhance airflow. The Velcro straps have slightly staggered rings which add to the comfort, and they are the simplest means of securing the shoes possible. Overall I would recommend these for their supreme comfort and weight. I went black/white, and size 44, the same fitment as SIDI. (one note, i have a narrow foot; consider sizing up a half size or finding a wide version(?) if you have wide feet)

This is an excellent road shoe with a minimalist design, November 27, 2014

This is an excellent road shoe with a minimalist design. I tried the original SLX model and the top velcro strap was too short. The SLX II has corrected that problem. There are other improvements as well, making this a comfortable and very light weight option. With many enclosure systems to choose from (BOA, laces, and buckle/Velcro) the old-fashioned three strap Velcro is still outstanding. If light weight, comfort, and stiffness matter to you, these shoes will serve you well.

I ended up putting a insole in them from my old sidis…better better than the insoles that come with the shoes. Having a hard time getting used to how bright they are but the orange means safety in my world
