It’s the perfect bag to supplement an under the saddle bag, but is probably too small to have as your main bag. I am able to store the following: An extra pair of gloves, a Topeak digital tire pressure gauge and a microfiber cloth, with room for a set of keys or a candy bar. Would also work for a small to medium size smartphone but not on of those “phablets”. Build quality is without fault. Plus it looks really cool on the bike!

I first tried the Timbuk2 Goody Box-I liked the clear sleeve on top (intended to hold a cell phone but perfect for a cue sheet), but it was very bulky, the velcro straps were not compatible with the geometry of my bike, and the zipper opening was much less convenient than advertised because of the stiff connecting strap.

Then I tried the Serfas Speed Stem bag, but my stem prevented the top from opening properly.

The BV top tube bag works perfectly with my bike’s geometry, velcro straps are amply long (I trimmed it to length), elastic opening seems quite secure even for small items, and provides and easy place to attach a cue sheet with a binder clip. My only issue with it has been that when I stand to climb a hill, the inside of my legs bump into it a little bit as the bike rocks back and forth–I would gladly sacrifice a little bit of volume to prevent this.

It has two straps, one on the back of the bottom, and one near the top of the front end. I think it would feel, and be a little more secure if it had two straps along the bottom. For all that, I used this pouch on my last two group rides and it held my snacks during the ride, which is exactly what I needed it to do.
