About once a week or so, your bike will need a thorough clean. By this we mean getting your bike on a stand, degreasing the drivetrain and thoroughly cleaning everything.

In this video, Simon Richardson shows you how to get your bike looking pretty much like new again.

Unless you use white bar tape – we haven’t got a trick for that yet.

Great, practical information, March 16, 2006

This review is from: The Essential Bicycle Commuter (Paperback)
Bell provides thorough coverage of how to successfully use your bicycle as transportation, not a recreational toy–how to get to work, the bank, or church, or to pick up groceries or your kid from sitter, by bike! Bell offers practical, down-to earth advice and information on a wide range of subjects–choosing a bike and accessories, selecting a route, riding in traffic, riding after dark and in bad weather. She speaks from her own experience in New York City as well as other places, and from the erperiences of many other bicycle commuters. She writes knowledgeably about dealing with practicalities you may be worrying about–arriving at work all sweaty, what to wear, safety, and a flat tire! She provides *much* more information for women riders than other writers do.

This is a well written book with very practical and useful information. I recommend this to anyone considering commuting by bicycle. The author shares real life experience and insight for the average person to start commuting by bicycle rather than an experienced cyclist. It is full of useful information to make bicycle commuting safe and enjoyable.

  3. Come on GCN, bit of research and knowledge please. WD40 is not a lube and never has been. WD40 displaces water, was widely used in the old days pre electronic ignition to displace condensation in HT distributors that houses the point and condensors important for spark ignition.
Spray some on newspaper and leave overnight. this will dry out, proving my point.
