I only use Thomson seat posts, until now.
4 of my 5 bikes have a Thomson seatpost. I decided to try control tech because it was a 1 piece post with similar clamping to the Thomson. Light weight, positive clamping, cast aluminum seat rail portion and extruded aluminum tube are durable and look good too. Adjusts the same way as Thomson too. Post height indicators too…nice touch.

I replaced my Thomson Elite with this post strictly to get a little more rise (this one is 7cm longer than what I had).
From an engineering standpoint, this post will not be as strong as a Thomson due to the cross section of the tubing. It’s just a regular tube, the front and back (areas of tension and compression) aren’t beefed up like they are on a Thomson, which is why this post is so much less expensive.
That being said, it’s still worth the money and will probably do fine for riders like me who are of average weight and don’t spend a lot of time with their weight on the saddle anyway.
The angle adjustment is very similar to Thomson, two bolts, no slippage.
