Look like normal shoes, perform somewhat like performance clipless, June 9, 2015

I purchased these for my wife. We’re both ‘casual’ road bikers (we log about 100 miles together every 2 weeks or so – myself being a bit more active on the bike than her)

We do rides, on average, of about 15-25 miles in length at a pace of about 14 mph. I bought these shoes once I was confident that she would be able to reap the benefits of being clipped in without it being a major safety risk. So far I’m quite happy with them, I may even purchase something similar when it comes time to buy some new shoes for myself.

    FIT
I think the fit is spot on. She wears a size 8 typically and we ordered 40 EU. She doesn’t have any complaints as far as the shoe fit goes.

    STIFFNESS/COMFORT
I think these add a reasonable amount of stiffness to the shoe, but not so unreasonable as to make walking in them impossible. They’re definitely not as stiff as my shimano shoes, but I can see that she’s likely more comfortable in them than I am in mine.

    BUILD QUALITY
It’s nice that they’re light, but the only reason I’ve deducted a star initially (may revisit if they turn out to really impress) is that the build quality seems to be lacking a bit, honestly. They’re a little too ‘cheap’ feeling on the bottom where the plate of the shoe meets the soft outter sole. It feels like a Payless shoe, but this may be intentional. I’m not sure that they’ll last a long time, but I will edit if anything surpasses or fails to meet expectations.

    APPEARANCE
The determining factor when ordering for any female. I feel they’re awesome looking and they match well with her bike. She can get away with wearing them without it being obvious she’s wearing bike shoes, although they may make her walk a little differently due to some stiffness. Personally, the laces make them look nice but I think I would prefer straps as to make taking them off/on easier and remove the annoyance of having to setup the laces so that they aren’t caught in the drivetrain.

Overall I’d say these are a worthy buy for the price. They’re nice looking, comfortable, and I’m hoping they’ll hold up well to some wear and tear, as these shoes are always going to see their share of.

Works for Indoor Spinning, February 8, 2016

I bought these for indoor spin bike use. The pair I had before were Look cleats/pedals/shoes. The problem was, they were pretty much impossible to walk in when off the bike. Some of the workouts I do at home combine work on the bike, as well as on the floor. Because the Look shoes/cleats were so slippery, I had to change shoes between sets. These shoes use SPD cleats and allow me to work on and off the bike without having to change shoes. These fit more like gym shoes, and you can’t feel the cleats when you walk (even on tile), so you won’t be slipping everywhere. They do run small, so I sized up. I typically wear a 10.5 in athletic shoe, and I think the European size I got (43) was between a 10.5 and 11. While these are fine for what I need them for, if I could have gotten them a bit bigger, I would have.

The shoe is supportive for spinning, but note quite as hard of a sole as other spin shoes I’ve used. There is a tiny bit of give while doing standing rides, etc. However, they are definitely more firm than regular gym shoes and are pretty supportive. Overall, these look cool, fit well enough, and work well for indoor spinning.

I bought these for spinning classes, so can’t really speak to wearing them around for longer periods of time. I will say that they are relatively comfortable, and I ordered a larger size than suggested. I wear a 6 1/2 – 7 shoe, and got a size 39 and they fit but just barely.
