Today on our 2016 Hyundai Sante Fe, we’re going to take a look at the Yakima King Joe Pro 2 bike rack, trunk mount. The part number is Y02624. I have a bike on our rack, I just want to show you a few things about the rack itself. How our bike is hooked up to our rack, we have a total of three straps. We have two up top and one to the side. The one to the side is our anti-sway strap. We’re going to go ahead and remove the two on top first, then we’re going to remove our anti-sway strap.

It’s a bike rack….for certain bikes, but not all bikes are created equal,
Pro: Sturdy, Easy set up, logical instructions
As for the cons, there are some pretty serious ones as far as I am concerned. The rack itself is not designed to hold smaller bikes. We have two young kids with smaller bikes that we managed to fit with considerable struggle and by considerable I mean….sweat, tears and some severe profanity. The Plastic/Rubber stabilizers are bulky and un-forgiving so you really have to wedge the bikes on. They do have an adapter for ‘ladies bikes’, but unfortunately, our camping trip (the reason we purchased this item) was the next day so we had to just make do. We eventually got the bikes seated on the rack although it took longer to load the bikes than pack the van with 3 kids, suitcases, camp gear, two dogs and sleeping bags. The rubber ties that secure the bike to the rack are impossible! They don’t tell you in their description that you must have strength of he-man and hecrules in your fingers to get the rubber straps secured! I ended up having to use a flat head screwdriver to pry the rubber into place…and damn near took out some fingers in the process! Needless to say, no bikes are getting secured without that extra tool…we were forced to use bungie cords because of the straps provided, we could only get 3 to work properly around the bikes. On the plus side, it has two bottle openers it….
