Great quality shoe for road cycling or triathlons, March 4, 2015

Shoes were delivered as scheduled. I wear a size 11.5 running shoe and purchased the Tri Fly V in size 45.5, which fits perfect. As a triathlon shoe, there is no tongue making it fast to slip your foot in. Straps on the heel are big enough to grab and are located off center making them easy to find while focusing on the road, if doing a flying transition from the swim to the bike. Inside lining is very comfortable with or without socks. There is a lot of venting to keep feet dry; however, I recently road in 50 degree weather with socks and my feet stayed comfortably warm. I know I am getting a great quality shoe with Pearl Izumi and plan to wear these for a long time.

As has already been noted by others and you can see in the fit rating these shoes to run “somewhat small”. I typically wear a 11 to 11.5 US sized shoe and I wear a 45.5 for specialized cycling shoe so I originally ordered the 45.5 (11.2 US) sized shoe, but it was too small. I did an exchange for a size 46 (11.5 US) and the fit is much better although still a bit on the snug size.

The shipment and exchange process were extremely fast and the packing was great.

I have already worn the shoes on several rides and wore them in a duathlon this past weekend. They provide great support, are lightweight and I really couldn’t tell much of a difference between them and my $250 shoes. Having a larger opening, a pull strap in the back and only two straps definitely speeds up your transition time especially given that my other shoes have a ratchet mechanism at the top. Every product I have ordered from Pearl Izumi has been great and these are no exception…
