I could say why I made my decision, which is that I have one hip joint that is bad so I can’t pivot that leg out normally to clear the tube, so my knee is right up against it when I ride. My bike, a Trek FX 7.3 has an aluminum frame and the top tube is sort of flat on top, so this should sit right on it nicely, and since the bag is so narrow, I doubt that the sides will protrude beyond the frame tube itself. I think that this is a quality company who makes this item. And I was sold on the side zipper in the picture, it makes me think this is how I would design a bag, to have a place put a knife into (or some other similar tool or whatever, that you want especially handy)or a smaller type cell phone. I also just got a GPS, a Magellan 310 eXplorist, which I now find out fits very nicely into the main compartment of this bag, so here is one use for it, if nothing else, that it is the perfect size to use to hold a GPS of this type, where you can easily put it in or take out, if you did not want to mount it on your bike. It will hold it securely enough with the zipper open, and if you aren’t expecting to use it for a while, go ahead and close the zipper. So, if you have normal sized devices, this bag can be your electronics holder, with a GPS and cell phone, and you could actually leave the side compartment unzipped too, since the phone will not fall out, just by the way the side pocket is constructed. Also I should note that the side pocket is good for keeping your driver’s license and credit cards.
Since another reviewer brought up the attachment straps, I can say that for my model bike, they are just right and don’t need to be trimmed or anything. That it has two front straps was a factor in my decision to buy this particular bag. There is a bit of a front stem on my bike where there is plenty of room for both of them.
The length of the bag itself, how much of the top frame tube that it takes up, is 7 inches, where my knee clears it as long as I am sitting back on the wide part of my seat. If I scoot up, then my knee will touch it, because of my hip condition from an old motorcycle accident. Normal people will have no problem because of how narrow the bag is.
It has nice built in stiffeners, including between the small side pocket and the main compartment, so it not only helps protect the contents, but facilitates one handed operation of the zippers. Speaking of zippers, the moving part doesn’t have the normal annoying metal tabs, but has a rope loop directly attached, so it is very user friendly and nothing to get caught on.
My conclusion is that this product looks and feels like something that should cost twice as much.

Was looking for a simple, lightweight way to carry my cell phone (aka music player) and something to munch on (energy chews, clif bar, whatever) without having to wear a jersey (have plenty of “tech tees” I don’t need anymore overpriced shirts). This bag does just that. Works great on my cross bike, will be buying another for my road bike.
