Swagman Bicycle Carriers X Mount Bike Carrier Storage Rack
As advertised,
The written instructions indicated that there were only three mounting holes, but the I like that the hardware had four instead (two in the top beam and two in the bottom). It’s very sturdy and I have no problems having the bike rack hang on the wall.
This is compatible with 2″ hitch size. If you have a 1.25″ rack, you’ll need an adapter to get this mounted.

Easy fix for sliding clamps makes this a good value in bicycle storage,
On the two newer Q-Rak’s, I also experienced the clamps sliding down the pole when a bicycle was placed on the padded hooks…not violently, but it was clear that the coefficient of friction between the plastic jaws of the clamp and the chrome pole was not sufficient.
What I did was cut a section out of an old bicycle inner tube about 1.5 inches long, then make one more cut down the length of that piece so it would wrap around the pole, inside the jaws of the clamp. Problem solved, and the clamp doesn’t even have to be tightened nearly so much to grip the pole tightly. The clamp bites into the rubber inner tube, and the inner tube has a very good grip on the chrome pole, so the bike isn’t sliding down. With the inner tube modification applied, the upper clamp will support the heaviest bicycle I own, a 1988 mountain bike with a very tall (24″) frame made of oversized steel tubing, and equipped with fenders, pump and tool bag. This bicycle weighs 33.5 lbs on my digital bathroom scales. I think that the Q-Rak would now possibly support even a motorized bicycle (not that I own one).
Some other reviewers have commented that the pole is “wobbly”, and as far as lateral motion goes, this is somewhat true, however, this has zero effect on the Q-Rak’s ability to hold a bicycle, as the weight of the bicycle pulls straight down, and in this direction the stand is very solid. Further, the catch which controls the telescoping adjustment of the pole has a lock, so even if the pole is jiggled sideways, the lock will prevent it from collapsing.
I would have given the Q-Rak five stars if the company had not changed the material of the clamps to plastic. Since the clamps don’t work perfectly as delivered, I took away one star. The buyer should not reasonably be expected to have to modify the stand to make it workable. However, since the fix is so easy, I still feel that the SpareHand Q-Rak represents a good value.
