   These work just fine for the run-of-the-mill, bulletproof Sturmey-Archer gear hub. I’ve had this on my 1958 Raleigh Sports with an SW hub for about six months. Considering the original was 56 years old before being replaced, this one should last a while too. Actually, the original hadn’t even reached the end of its life; I was restoring the bike and had to take out the cable. Being that the bike was left outside for 20 years before I got it and I then rode it through the salty winter earlier, the original cable bolt had rusted together and it snapped when I tried to open it (took a lot of force). So yeah, unless it has a glaring defect like a crack, this should outlast me.
