This is a really great idea, with a few small drawbacks. I bought this tablet holder to secure my Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 on the handlebars of my bicycle when it is mounted in a trainer (don’t use this in traffic!!!!). It does this with flying colors. It holds the tablet very securely, and all of the physical buttons are accessible along the sides, and the headphone jack as well. It’s also a pretty cool looking piece, and it is not difficult to insert or remove the tablet when you want to use it elsewhere.

There are a couple of drawbacks to this design though. I normally use it in a landscape orientation when mounted on the handlebars. It is possible to use it in the portrait orientation too, but you can’t just turn it. You have to remove the holder from the handlebars, remove a screw, turn the holder 90 degrees, and then replace the screw and reattach the holder to the handlebars. For me, this is not a big deal (I don’t change the orientation at all), but might be for someone else who needs to change the orientation of their tablet occasionally. The biggest problem when used with an Android device is that the frame of the holder obscures the touch buttons on each side of the physical home button on the tablet, making it difficult to use the “back” and the “switch app” functions on an Android device. I imagine this would not be a problem with an iPad, with it’s single button. In my case, I said to myself “what the hell” and used some cutting pliers to trim off the frame where it obscured the buttons. The frame on that side is not as strong as it was originally, but it works well enough still that I am not worried about the tablet falling out, and now I can access the touch buttons.

All in all, it’s an acceptable product for what I want it to do, but it is not perfect. Better access to the common buttons on an Android device would go a long way to improving it.

good in concept, December 28, 2014

I try not to be overly critical, however this devise, good in concept, is very Disappointing in multiple ways. The rubber strap that mounts unit to the handlebar tore in half the first time I tried to mount it. Can see the defect/bubble in the rubber where it ripped. I could still mount it however as my bar is not very thick. The mount does not grip the handlebar tight enough as it allows weight of IPad mini to turn the unit downward, out of view. Also, it mounts to close to you on a road bike as my knee hits unit when I stand to peddle. It also crowds the handlebar and takes away to many handlebar positions. This position also requires me to look strait down to view, forcing bad form, but more importantly a terrible position for anyone wearing glasses… You can’t sweat and look down without it dripping on the lenses. The zip lock like baggie used to keep the iPad dry distorts the view some, but it’s tolerable. I did not use long enough to see if the unvented bag allowed iPad to overheat. Had some trouble removing iPad when done, then the bungee cord used to keep tension on iPad, pulled out of its position… I think that was my last straw for this thing. Going back to the old music stand I have set up in front of the bike. Maybe Selling this through the dollar store at $2 a more expected match for the deign and quality.

Delivery from the vendor was prompt. Unfortunately there is a design flaw that is completely unrelated to the vendor.

Delta uses a wide, stretchy band to secure the holder to the handle bars. There is a injection molding point by the first hole to secure the band to the remainder of the holder. On the very first try to secure the band, a tear developed. Delta need to look at re-engineering the molding of the band to eliminate this flaw.
